What is Hosting?
We often get asked, what is hosting? The simple explanation is that hosting is space on a server where your website’s pages and pictures are stored. Similar to how we store files of documents and pictures on our own computer hard drives, servers are hard drives for the internet. We lease “hard drives” to put your website files on, and organize them to work efficiently, so that your website displays properly and quickly.
Where you decide to host may effect how your website is displayed and/or how it can be programmed. Our preference is that you host with Palm 3 Ltd, as this allows us to oversee all the files without needing access to another companies servers, but we can work either way as it’s always your choice.
How Much Is Hosting?
In an effort to keep things simple, we’ve found that a simple annual fee works best. No monthly charges to worry about, and your renewals are automatic unless you let us know 30 days prior to your expiration, as we like to keep things current and renew before the eleventh hour…
a.) Basic Plan $100/yr
- Your WordPress site is hosted on our server, co-managed through a web browser.
- Initial Search Engine submissions are included at no additional cost.
- Point & Click Site Building Tools – using a variety of dynamic themes and templates. No programming or HTML experience needed! We highly recommend using WordPress, although other options are available for the highly motivated.
- Application Installation Wizards/Plug-ins — photo galleries, blog software and more!
- Email – Customize your email address(es) (you@yourdomain.com) to enhance your professional image. Webmail access, as well as setup in your favorite email program (Outlook, Mail, Etc.).
b.) Enhanced Plan $150/yr
- Your WordPress site is hosted on it’s own server, co-managed through a web browser.
- Domain name registrations and/or transfers, and quarterly Search Engine submissions included at no additional cost.
- You will have a control panel, that includes many tools and extra features.
- Point & Click Site Building Tools – using a variety of dynamic themes and templates. No programming or HTML experience needed! We highly recommend using WordPress, although other options are available for the highly motivated.
- Integrated Google Webmaster Tools – provides you with detailed reports about your pages’ visibility on Google.
- Application Installation Wizards — photo galleries, blog software and more!
- Online Store and Selling Tools – shopping carts, catalogs with coupon and sales options, PayPal integration … you can even accept credit cards online.
- Email – Customize your email address(es) (you@yourdomain.com) to enhance your professional image. Webmail access, as well as setup in your favorite email program (Outlook, Mail, Etc.).
- Free Advertising! – with credits for major search engines, including Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and for the popular social networking site, Facebook.
c.) Hosting with another provider…
While this isn’t a popular choice, it is still an option. Of course this option will require providing us access information to your hosting platform (the username and password) in order to build/upload and manage your site, the options and pricing for this type of service would be based on that provider’s fees.
Palm 3 Ltd will host almost all personal, and business category websites except the following:
- Pornographic Websites
- Online Games
- Online File Transfer
- Proxy websites
- Spam Email Marketing
- Free Hosting Provider
However, you choose to host your website, be assured we’re ready, willing and able to create your website and meet your needs.
